NOTES FROM LIGHTVESSEL

A mood check-in can be one sentence

It is late. You want to leave a record of today, but a full journal entry feels like another thing to finish.

Try this:

Right now I feel ___, after ___.

“Right now I feel tired, after a day of back-to-back calls.”

Save it there if you like. When you read it again, you will have the feeling and a little context.

Use the part of the sentence you have

You do not need to fill both blanks. If you know the feeling but not the reason, stop there:

“I feel unsettled tonight. I’m not sure why.”

If you know what happened but cannot name the feeling:

“I got home after seeing my family and sat in the car for a few minutes.”

“After” gives the note some context; it does not mean you have proved what caused the feeling.

Examples for different kinds of days

These are made-up examples, not entries from Lightvessel users. Try a similar sentence with a detail from your own day.

  • A tiring day: “I’m worn out after the late shift and don’t want to talk much.”
  • An ordinary day: “Pretty neutral today. I did my usual things.”
  • A good moment: “I’m pleased that I finally sent the application.”
  • Mixed feelings: “Glad the visit happened, relieved to have the house to myself again.”
  • Something unresolved: “Still annoyed about lunch. I’m leaving it here for tonight.”
  • Hard to describe: “Something feels off, but I don’t have words for it yet.”

You do not have to make the sentence positive or balance a difficult feeling with a good one.

If the first line turns into a paragraph

Keep going if there is more you want to say. The first sentence can be a starting point rather than the whole entry.

If the fill-in sentence feels awkward, pick a question from these four mood journal prompts instead.

Save it, or leave it for another day

In Lightvessel’s mood check-in, choose your sea conditions, add a body feeling if you want to, and put your sentence in the optional note field. Save the entry to find it later in Tides.

You can leave both the body feeling and the note blank. If even choosing a mood feels like too much today, close the check-in without saving it. There is no need to fill in missed days before coming back.

If you would rather talk for a while, you can leave the note and open a conversation. Or close the app for tonight. The record can wait.
