NOTES FROM LIGHTVESSEL
How do you want to talk today?
You get home from work, but a meeting is still going around in your head. You might want to tell the whole story. You might want to understand why one part bothered you. Or explaining anything might feel like too much.
On Lightvessel’s conversation screen, you can choose Vent, Tidy, or Stay. Pick the one that suits how much you feel like saying and what you want from the conversation.
The lines below are made-up examples of what you could type. They are not user conversations or replies from the app.
Choose Vent when you want to get it out
You have been holding something in all the way home. You can start before you have worked out what you think about it.
“I got interrupted again in the meeting. I didn’t say anything then, but I’m still annoyed. Let me tell you what happened.”
Vent is set up to listen more and say less, without turning every story into advice. Tell it from the beginning, or start with “Today didn’t go well.”
You can say what kind of response you want: “Please hold off on advice. I want to finish telling you about this.” That tells the AI your preference; it may still respond in a way that does not suit you.
Choose Tidy to work through one situation
You keep replaying a conversation. You have already talked about it, but one part still has you stuck. Try starting with that part.
“My friend hasn’t replied for two days. I know they might just be busy, but I keep wondering whether I said something wrong.”
Tidy follows the questions on the screen and produces a clarity card, bringing together the situation, your feelings, and a possible next step.
Answer the question in front of you. When the card appears, see which parts fit what you meant and which parts miss it. The card is an AI-generated reflection on your input. It cannot tell you what your friend is thinking or decide what you should do.
If you want to talk more freely, switch back to Vent.
Choose Stay for quiet company
The day is over. Nothing in particular happened, but you do not feel like going straight to bed or sitting alone with it all.
“Just got home and sat down on the sofa. I don’t want to explain much tonight. Can we stay here for a bit?”
Stay is set up for short replies, without repeatedly asking questions or introducing new topics. You can mention what is around you: “It’s raining outside” or “My tea has gone cold.” You do not need a story to discuss.
If you do not feel like sending a message, return to Now and spend a moment with the lighthouse, or try lighthouse breathing. You can spend time here without starting a conversation.
You can change your mind mid-conversation
The three modes are on the conversation screen. Switching keeps the messages you already have; the next response follows the new mode. Leaving Tidy and coming back starts its sequence again.
You might start with Vent and later switch to Stay. You can also leave the conversation where it is, without writing a closing summary.
If you would rather keep a short note, try a one-sentence mood check-in.
A few things to know before you start
Lightvessel’s replies come from AI and may misunderstand you or be wrong. It is for everyday conversation and reflection, and does not provide therapy, diagnosis, or emergency support.
Conversation history stays on your iPhone. Messages and relevant context are sent to the AI service to generate replies. See the Privacy Policy for details.
For more about the features and the limited free conversations, see Lightvessel’s AI companion. If you are unsure which mode to choose, start with the sentence you most want to say.
